This exhibition is an exploration of the one and the many, a timeless experience that touches upon variety but also speaks of unity and similitude of human existence. The participating artists have varying stylistic approaches, varying ideologies, all of which are, collectively, a confessional memoir begetting introspection. Their variety of concerns, from environmental, to linguistic, to gendered as well as their nuanced and complex approach to the material, are brought to centre stage, and bind them in this language of artistic expression.
The artworks examine the cultural histories and lived experiences of the artists, and their acts of remembering and creating memories that explore their individual and collective identities, which consequently, enables them to forge new expressions by stressing the similarities of separate but related elements.
The works on display are by 10 emerging artists who were shortlisted from over 400 applicants through an Open Call. The artists are Deepak Kumar, Pahul Singh, Sanayvi Naik, Sayantan Samanta, Tahsin Akhtar, Sarban Chowdhury, Sibdas Sengupta, Sabiha Dohadwala, M. Thamshangpha, and Roshan Anvekar.
